Meghann Richko's introduction to yoga began in her high school years. Looking for a way to deal with
stress, she began practicing yoga at local fitness centers and studios in Chicago, IL. Yoga proved
to be deeply restful and healing, and Meghann decided she wanted to share the practice of yoga with
the communities around her. She completed a teacher training in Chicago, IL upon graduating high
school. In 2003, Meghann's journey took her to Boulder, Co to study psychology, yoga, and yoga
therapy. She continued her yoga studies under the guidance of Richard Freeman, a dear teacher,
and completed The Yoga Workshop's training in 2004. Her time spent practicing at The Yoga Workshop,
as well as Om Time, transformed her experience with yoga. Other important influences were Jeanie
Manchester and Cindy Lusk. Meghann continued to instruct classes at various centers in Boulder,
Co for many years while finishing her degree in psychology, which she obtained from the University
of Colorado.
After a car accident that left her injured, Meghann's eyes were opened up to the
healing aspects of yoga therapy, an approach to yoga that brings individual attention and guidance
to each student. She received her certification in Yoga Therapy soon after from the Rocky Mountain
Institute of Yoga and Aryuveda. Meghann spent 5 years observing her students and classes and
watching them transform. In 2008, Meghann felt a calling to return to Chicago and continue her
practice. Her professional work includes guiding group classes at many fitness centers and
studios in the Northwest Suburbs, as well as assisting those with individual needs through
private sessions. Meghann brings a meditative flow into her classes while educating her students
on the details of alignment. She encourages her students to be true to themselves and to
cultivate mindfulness through their practice. Meghann truly believes that yoga provides the
body the ability to heal and reset.
